ROW Match Update

The Rest-of-the-World [ROW] match vs. MrThayer on Chessworld.net has ended in a win for the ROW team.

"Congratulations ROW team. Very good. I hope you learned from this game. The opening is a solid, positional opening. There are a few ways to go wrong with it, but only by violating the rules.
Remember,
Rule 1 - Answer the threat of the piece that just move (every move);
Rule 2 - Re-capture after a capture;
Rule 3 - Watch your pawn structure.

Good luck and good chess.
MrThayer"

And with that message MrThayer let his flag fall.

Yesterday Kingscrusher [Chessworld.net Webmaster] made it official with this message to the ROW Team.

"Congratulations to the Team in defeating MrThayer, and many thanks to MrThayer for a great game with nice discussions. The games has now been archived."

The game was a demonstration of the London System and even though it ended in a loss for White, I think the game still demonstrates the strengths of the system. A critical moment came at move 24 [Diagram] when White lost a piece.

[White to move]

MrThayer played 24. Nc4 which loses the piece after 24...Qe4+. 24. Qd3 was likely better for White.

I'm sure that MrThayer will continue to be a strong proponent of the London System despite this loss. Charles Thayer is also one of the best player coaches at Chessworld.net and has contributed a bunch  of the material including MrThayers Rules at my main site.

My thanks go out to MrThayer for a well played and instructive game and to the ROW team for some great thought provoking discussions.

Here's the full pgn game score from the ROW match.
